Growing up in the country one of my chores was to mow the grass. It took about two hours (with a riding mower) and I had to follow the directions of my dad who always wanted everything to look perfect. (Imagine the lines of the outfield at a baseball stadium.) I didn't mind doing it...it was a nice way to get a tan and I loved the smell of the freshly cut grass (still do.)
Fast forward to today. While I don't have a lawn to mow or garden to tend there is a back deck off our apartment. Today I finally succeded in getting the flower boxes up and secured on the ledges. After nearly a week of them sitting on the ground with the little flower buds starting to blossom I took off my gay bonnet and put on my butch hard hat and secured them so that they wouldn't fall off (don't ask.) So, this evening as I sit outside and blog I can't help but smell the flowers and think...I did that.

I can undertand perfectly the "correct" way to mow...that is why Adam will never touch another lawn mower...I think I ruined him on that! Also if you long to pull weeds...I have plenty of flower beds that need attention
Rick
